Golden Belt Entertainment Group, LLC to Build New 6-Screen Theater Building in Downtown Great Bend

Squeaky seats, sticky floors, and old technology are long gone at the Village Cinemas on west 10th Street, thanks to the Golden Belt Entertainment Group, LLC, founded by partners Chad Somers and Dennis Call.  The partners purchased the Village Cinemas in June 2010 and executed some pretty major renovations in a matter of a few months. For over a quarter of a century, Great Bend has been known in the agricultural community for its quality facilities, dedicated volunteers, and outstanding exhibitors who have participated in the biennial farm show held every even numbered year at the Great Bend Expo Complex. The Great Bend Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development is now pleased to announce its plans for a new, annual show called The Great Bend Farm & Ranch Expo to be held the second week of every April. Maybe it is in the water, after all. Coors products are best-selling beers today at Stickney Distributing Inc. and owner Tom Stickney recalls a time when a Virginia man was willing to do about anything to get his hands on them. “He was persistent,” Stickney recalled. “But I turned him down because my license would have been gone. This was before Coors was exported to the eastern part of the country,” he noted. “This Virginia man wanted me to sell him semi-loads of beer for his grocery store.
