The Miracle Jeans Day is an opportunity for local businesses and its employees to wear jeans on September 12 for a $5 fee per employee. All collected proceeds are submitted following the Miracle Jeans day by the company to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. As you know, Great Bend’s Central Kansas Medical Center is one of the six locations served by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in its 64-county area. Any family who has a child between the age of birth to 21 years of age, and has a diagnosed condition by a certified medical professional, is able to receive up to $500 funding in one of these areas:-Mileage Reimbursement-CMNH helps families with mileage assistance to and from their child’s medical treatment. Mileage is reimbursed only.-Durable Medical Goods-CMNH helps families needing a specialized piece of medical equipment for their child’s particular diagnosis. This can be in the form of a wheelchair, first time hearing aids and other medical equipment.-Prescription Drugs-CMNH helps families with a child who needs prescription drugs for their particular diagnosis. In addition, CMNH provides grants to pediatric needs twice a year. All requests submitted by pediatric organizations need to fit the criteria required by CMNH. All funds are reviewed and decided upon by CMNH’s own Board of Directors. Meetings are held in May and October of the same year.To help, we discussed businesses accessing the Miracle Jeans Day online site, www.miraclejeansday.com. This site will enable businesses to register online and receive free stickers and other goodies. The site provides detailed instructions on how to participate in Miracle Jeans Day and how to submit the funds. It’s easy and fun!
