27th Annual NACE Corrosion Control Seminar

Barton Community College and the Kansas Section of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers International will present the 27th annual Corrosion Control Seminar on Tuesday, Feb. 5 through Thursday, Feb. 7 at the Midwest Utility and Pipeline Training Center and Barton’s Technical Building and Science and Math Building.

Personnel from utility companies, municipalities, transmission companies, pipeline and corrosion contractors and others in the oil and gas field are encouraged to attend this seminar. Exhibitors will also be on hand to showcase the latest industry-specific technology and techniques.

Barton Coordinator of Workforce Training Projects and Events Krystall Barnes said the convention is ideal for all industry personnel, regardless of experience level.

“People who are new to the industry can get high quality training, and if they pass their hands-on tests, they get a certificate that can help them get hired somewhere or get promoted,” she said. “We also have more specific sessions for people who have been in the industry for a while. They can hear about and discuss the latest and greatest developments in the field.”

The seminar offers workshops on the following topics: basic cathodic protection instruction, field applied pipeline coating types and application techniques and other technical sessions on various corrosion-related topics and problems.

Barnes said the convention offers great opportunities for exhibitors as well.

The exhibitors get a chance to visit with personnel throughout the various industries directly and they can showcase their latest and greatest products and it is a great opportunity for them to make connections,” she said. “ It’s a really great way for them to get feedback from people within the industry about their products as well.”

There will also be an exhibitor barbecue social from 6 -9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 in the Best Western Angus Inn Courtyard, 2920 10th St., Great Bend.

For more information about participating in the seminar or being an exhibitor, contact Workforce Training and Community Education at training@bartonccc.edu or (866) 813-2462.
