Valentine’s Day is almost here. Grocery store shelves are already filled with Valentine sweets. Florists are gearing up for their busiest season of the year, and romantic partners are hopefully planning for their big date. But how do you celebrate the day if you aren’t involved in a romantic relationship? Here’s an idea: treat yourself to a fun relationship workshop. Romantic relationships influence many areas of life. Learning to have positive, healthy relationships is important for single adults of all ages. Choosing to attend a relationship education workshop can help improve your current relationship, improve your ability to recognize when it is time to move on, and help you prepare for a significant, long-term future romantic relationship. Catholic Social Service is offering a free six-week healthy relationship class at the Catholic Social Service office in Great Bend, 2201 16th Street, every Tuesday from February 5th to March 12th, between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Lunch will be provided at the end of each class.Relationship education workshops are focused on building skills to help individuals succeed in their romantic relationships. Led by trained facilitators, the workshops feature fun, interactive exercises designed to help individuals improve their communication skills, manage conflict, strengthen their ability to decide, identifying healthy relationship behaviors, seek a good match, stay safe, speak for yourself, know when to take a time out, and problem solving. Many of these skills are valuable in professional and family relationships, too. Participants may be in a dating relationship, single, or even considering marriage, but the workshop is designed for individuals, not couples. Participants will examine past or present relationships, their values, how family relationships may impact their relationship expectations, and what commitment and forgiveness mean to them.
