March 4th through 8th is Severe Weather Awareness Week, sponsored by the National Weather Service, the Kansas Emergency Management Association and the Kansas Division of Emergency Management. Anyone interested in learning more about storm safety is encouraged to attend the Annual Severe Weather Safety & Storm Spotters meeting on March 7th at the Crest Theater, 1905 Lakin in Great Bend. Meetings will take place at 3:00 and 6:30 p.m.The program provides severe weather training and education for everyone. Plan to spend two hours learning about storms and severe weather safety. The sessions consist of a multimedia presentation, lecture, and question and answer period. Chance Hayes, Warning Coordination Meteorologist, from the Wichita office of the National Weather Service will present the training.The Safety Meeting is free to attend and open to the public.
